The Top Load Washer Lid Switch Assembly detects if the lid of the washer is open or closed and prevents the appliance from spinning or agitating if the lid isn’t secured. If your washer won’t initiate the cleaning cycle, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. This assembly includes (1) lid switch with actuator and wire harness, (2) zip ties and installation instructions. The appliance’s repair manual (item 4313896) will be helpful to complete this repair. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies.
